Medworxx Announces Over 30% of Ontario Hospital Acute Care Beds on its Utilization Management System

TORONTO February 17, 2009 – Medworxx, the makers of a strategic software platform that hospitals use to communicate, aggregate, and analyze knowledge, announced today that there are now over 10,000 acute care beds in Canada being managed by the Medworxx Utilization Management System. In Ontario alone, Medworxx software manages 31% of acute care beds.

The Medworxx UMS monitors patient stay, highlights care delays, assesses discharge readiness, provides consistency in the care process and an understanding of when the patient should be discharged, ensuring optimum patient safety. The product provides the ability to assess, monitor and ultimately reduce, patient length-of-stay resulting in cost savings for the hospital while maintaining high-levels of patient care and safety.

“Medworxx is pleased to have hospitals and regions across Canada using our software to increase productivity, reduce costs, and improve patient flow and safety”, said Dan Matlow, President & CEO, Medworxx. “Initiatives like eHealth Ontario’s Wait Times priority, which will reduce emergency room wait times and improve access to alternative levels of care, will help to continue the expansion of this product line for Medworxx. We look forward to continued penetration of our Utilization Management System throughout Canada, along with our recently launched Bed Optimization System.” The Medworxx Bed Optimization System (BOS) improves patient flow by providing a real-time clinical status of beds, and resources with a view to establishing efficiencies in bed management as well as managing specific bed equipment requirements, and availability of acute, rehabilitation, continuing care or long-stay beds.
