Medworxx Announces Preconfigured Version of its Emergency Readiness Solution for Swine Flu Pandemic

TORONTO May 1, 2009 – Medworxx, provider of healthcare solutions for decision support and compliance, announced today a solution that will allow hospitals to get up and running with a hosted incident command system for Swine Flu Pandemic in under 48 hours.

Medworxx ERS is a web-based application that addresses The Joint Commission mandated all-hazards approach to emergency management and is NIMS, ICS, and HICS compatible. The Medworxx solution supports all four phases of emergency preparedness - mitigation, preparation, response, and recovery.

The solution for the Swine Flu Pandemic will provide hospitals with a common operational platform that becomes your response command system, communications system, and a single source of information for responding to the flu pandemic.

  • Implement a pandemic specific incident command organization chart, assign staff to roles, with job action sheets for each role
  • Communicate amongst roles
  • Standardize messages to your hospital staff
  • Keep everyone aware of changes in policy, and distribute to appropriate staff
  • Update pandemic status in one central place
  • Provide the most recent breaking news on the Swine Flu
  • Communicate precautions and updated policies on cough etiquette, sneezing, hand washing
  • Provide access to the public and media if desired

The rollout of the Medworxx ERS for Swine Flu will provide hospitals with a web portal that is the central communication point, storing all relevant policies and documents. Content and news feeds from the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) and the World Health Organization (WHO) will be included. Organization chart functionality provides the ability to define broadcast groups, call trees, and directories to facilitate communication. Job action sheets and planning guides assist in timely response to critical actions. Links to Google Maps and other news feed such as CNN (Cable News Network) can be included.

"Medworxx is pleased to provide hospitals with this solution to assist with their short term requirements”, said Dan Matlow, President and CEO, Medworxx. “A communication vehicle that allows hospitals to get the relevant policies out, and have updates immediately available, is essential. And, in the longer term hospitals can use the Medworxx ERS for preparedness and mitigation, whether that is for the next phase of the Swine Flu or for any other pandemic, natural disaster, or other emergency."

Medworxx will be hosting a webinar demonstrating the Medworxx ERS for Swine Flu on Wednesday, May 6th at 2:00 PM Eastern. For details, please visit www.medworxx.com or call (416) 642-1278.
