The Medworxx Patient Flow Platform focuses on the improvement of patient flow and quality of care using proven methodologies and utilization management best practices. The Medworxx Compliance and Education Platform enables healthcare organizations to easily create and deploy relevant content, enterprise wide.
Founded in 2004, Medworxx products are now used by more than 500,000 people at over 300 hospitals across North America. Dan Matlow, President & CEO
As president and CEO of Medworxx, Dan's focus is on increasing new license sales and services revenues, and directing the overall operations of the business. Dan brings 20+ years of software vendor management experience to Medworxx, with extensive experience in software development, marketing, consulting, and sales.
Dan began his career at On-Line Software Inc. where he headed up the Canadian operation of a $150M software business. He then went on to found and led an Education Services organization, SDLC Technologies Inc. SDLC developed and marketed instructor-led IT education courses in the United States and Canada.
Prior to taking the leadership role at Medworxx, Dan led the sales function of Open Text's healthcare division as Vice President of Sales. He earned his stripes and extensive insights into the healthcare information technology industry as SVP of Sales for Corechange, a Boston-based startup, where he led the sales team that grew both license and services revenues from less than USD$1M in 1997, to over $20M in 2001. Subsequently, Open Text, a globally recognized leader in the Enterprise Content Management technology sector, acquired Corechange in early 2003. Prior to Corechange, Dan served as President & CEO for an enterprise training and education company that delivered a broad range of instructor-led technical training to Fortune 1000 enterprises in the North America.
Dan holds a B.A. from York University in Toronto, Canada.

Domenic Crudo, Chief Financial Officer
As Chief Financial Officer, Domenic is responsible for directing the financial management/strategy, legal, and administrative affairs of the company. Domenic is a Chartered Accountant that brings over 20+ years of financial, accounting and tax experience to his role at Medworxx. He is one of the three founders of Medworxx.
Prior to joining Medworxx, Domenic was the Chief Financial Officer for Accutel Conferencing Systems Inc., a provider of audio, video and web conferencing services in North America. Domenic was a key member of the senior management team brought on to provide guidance and execute a corporate reorganization strategy which resulted in substantial increased revenues and cost efficient changes in personnel resulting in better bottom line operating results.
He began his career in public accounting before joining the Ministry of Finance and has held executive level finance positions at SDLC Technologies, Checkpoint Security Systems, a multinational publicly traded company, and I.T. Xchange, an international distributor of personal computer and server technology.
Domenic holds a Bachelor of Commerce and Finance from the University of Toronto, as well as the designation of Chartered Accountant through the Canadian Institute of Chartered Accountants.

Susan Gershman, Executive Vice President of Operations & Marketing
As Executive Vice President of Operations & Marketing for Medworxx, Susan's focus is on corporate strategy, flawless execution, and creating measurable results. Supporting the Medworxx CEO, Susan is committed to establishing awareness for the company while refining and designing world-class company process and applied metrics. Susan is an experienced executive, having spent more than 15 years in the software industry.
Prior to Medworxx, Susan was Chief Marketing Officer for Longview Solutions, where she was responsible for the driving the company's global marketing strategy, as well as for their product sales support and learning organizations. Before joining Longview as Director of Product Marketing, Susan held various positions at J.D. Edwards, Dun & Bradstreet Software, and Price Waterhouse.
Susan is a Chartered Accountant and holds a Bachelor of Commerce from the University of Manitoba.

Niels Tofting, Senior Vice President, Sales
As senior vice president of Sales, Niels is responsible for managing the sales team and strategy to increase revenue growth. Niels has more than ten years of sales and marketing experience focused in high technology.
Prior to joining Medworxx, he was at Open Text and responsible for sales of the enterprise portal technology to the United States and Canada. Niels acted as director of sales at Corechange (acquired by OpenText) and was responsible for new business development, managing strategically important Fortune 500 customers and building the healthcare business.
Niels holds a Bachelor of Environmental Studies from the University of Waterloo, School of Urban and Regional Planning.

Joel Alfane, Vice President, Development and Services
As vice president of development and services, Joel is responsible for the technical architecture and solution development at Medworxx. He overlooks the development of the Medworxx product suite and strives to ensure that the products are successfully implemented on time and on budget. Joel has over 10 years of information systems implementation and development experience.
Prior to joining Medworxx, Joel was the Director of Learning Development at Longview Solutions where he helped build a new product line called LRALTD (a Learning Management System/Content Management System and Policy Solution for Finance). Joel has extensive experience in development and implementation and has held multiple roles including business analysis, architecture, development, and quality assurance for many verticals such as Banking, Finance, Manufacturing, Education, and Healthcare.
Joel holds a Bachelor of Commerce from Ryerson Polytechnic University, with a major in Computerized Information Systems and a minor in Finance, as well as a Masters in Distance Education from Athabasca University.

Wendy McLaughlin, RN, Vice President, Clinical Services
As vice president of clinical services, Wendy leads the clinical team at Medworxx, providing leadership and direction for Medworxx solutions, with specific emphasis on the Utilization Management System, Bed Optimization System, and Learning Management System. Wendy is responsible for ensuring that Medworxx incorporates clinical best practices research reflective of national trends. She also develops and provides standard and customized clinical consulting and training programs.
Prior to joining Medworxx, Wendy held leadership positions within acute care settings in Ontario and Alberta. These positions include Clinical Educator, Manager of Quality and Utilization and Regional Program Director. Wendy also has 16 years of clinical experience in a variety of acute care settings including paediatric, neonatal, med-surg and emergency nursing. She is an experienced and skilful trainer and speaker and a prior Ontario Safer Healthcare Now Trailblazer and Dorothy Wiley Nursing Leadership Institute Graduate.
Wendy holds a Bachelor of Science (honours) in Nursing from McMaster University.

Larry Vanier, Vice President, Decision Support & Healthcare Processes
Larry joined Medworxx from Continuum Solutions, where he was a principal in the company. He has over 25 years of experience in healthcare IT from St. Paul's Hospital in Vancouver, St. Joseph's Heath Centre in London and the St. Thomas-Elgin General Hospital. Larry's private industry experience includes software development and management at Xerox and Cableshare. As hospital information services director he gained knowledge of hospital administration and department management. Larry has led teams in process redevelopment, system requirement identification, procurement and implementation, and has an in depth understanding of hospital administration, department management, and of the functioning of hospitals.
Larry is responsible for the strategy and plan for growing Medworxx' decision support line of business, with a continued emphasis on the Medworxx UMS (formerly Continuum). His role includes developing business relationships and working with Medworxx' partners. Larry also plays an advisory role and provides pre- and post-sales support for other Medworxx products.
Larry holds a Bachelor of Science in Mathematics and Computer Science from the University of Western Ontario and is a Certified Health Executive with the Canadian Council of Health Service Executives.

Bernard Webber, Chairman of the Board
Bernard Webber is the Chairman of JAZZ.FM91
Between 1997 and 2001, Mr. Webber was President and Chief Executive Officer of the Insurance Information Centre of Canada (IICC). The IICC was a national technology and information organization whose member companies provided more than 95% of the private and public property and casualty insurance sold in Canada. From July 1994 to the fall of 1997, he was the President and CEO of the Facility Association (FA), Canada's P&C which provides automobile insurance coverage for high risk drivers.
Bernie has been active in the Canadian technology industry at the most senior levels. He was a member of the Board of Governors of the Information Technology Association of Canada (ITAC) and a member of the Minister's Advisory Committee for the OECD Minister's Conference in Ottawa in October 1998. He was a key participant in ITAC's first-ever Trade Mission on Electronic Commerce, which went to Israel in February 1999. He was an official representative on “Team Canada” at the G8 Conference on Privacy & Security of Networks in Paris in May 2000.
Prior to the FA, Mr. Webber was the Deputy Commissioner of the Ontario Insurance Commission from March 1990. Over the span of 26 years he held a number of senior positions within the Ontario Public Service. Immediately before OIC he was Acting Deputy Minister of Consumer and Commercial Relations, and Assistant Deputy Minister of Business Practices with the same Ministry. During his time as Assistant Deputy Minister at Consumer and Commercial Relations, his organization developed the “Polaris” land registration system, which now forms the cornerstone of the Terranet Corporation.

Sam Marafioti, Director
Sam Marafioti is the Vice President of Corporate Strategy and Development, CIO at Sunnybrook Health Sciences Centre in Toronto. Sam is responsible for strategic visioning and long term planning to ensure that technology facilitates, enables and supports the timely achievement of corporate goals and aligns with a broader system vision for eHealth. He has been instrumental in creating a culture at Sunnybrook and increasingly in the broader hospital system where IT is valued as a key enabler to the success of an organization.
Sam leads the development and implementation of numerous initiatives including electronic health record, connectivity, network infrastructure, corporate technology standards, web services and telehealth, and oversees all major corporate technology acquisitions. Under his direction, Sunnybrook has established a solid foundation of clinical, business and decision support systems. These strategically position the organization to leverage successes and explore e-health opportunities on a greater scale over the next 5 years.
Sam was a member of the Ontario Hospital Association's Information and Communications Technology Advisory Committee in 2000, which evolved into the Ontario Hospital e-Health Council in 2001. As Vice Chair of the Council, Sam brings leadership, a spirit of collaboration, and hospital insight to an emerging provincial eHealth strategy in partnership with government, physicians, other providers, and consumers.

Renah Persofsky, Director
Renah Persofsky is Executive Vice President, Ubequity Capital Partners, Inc. She is also the founder, and former President and Chief Executive Officer of Dexit Incorporated (now HDX Inc), a Toronto-based company that recently brought an innovative, electronic payment service to the Canadian marketplace.
Prior to starting Dexit, Renah served as an officer of the Bank of Montreal and was the founding President and Chief Executive Officer of Cebra Inc., a wholly owned electronic commerce subsidiary of the bank. Before joining the bank, Renah held executive positions at Bryker Data Systems Limited and MSA/Dun & Bradstreet Software. She was a member of the Minister's Advisory Committee on Electronic Commerce and led a Canada Electronic Commerce trade mission to Israel and represented the Canadian business community at the OECD Summit in Turku, Finland.
Renah was a governor of the Information Technology Association of Canada, a member of the Federal Government Committee for Electronic Commerce and Revenue, and sat on the Sectoral Advisory Group on International Trade (SAGIT), which provides advice to the Federal Minister of Foreign Affairs, and Trade.
Renah is an avid Jazz fan and is Vice-Chairperson of Toronto's Jazz FM Radio. She is also on the Board as a Director for Silverback Media PLC.

Chris Schnarr, Director
Chris is Chief Financial Officer and a director of Bio-Extraction Inc. (BXI: TSX-V). Chris has also been and continues as a founder and partner in a number of private companies, involved in investments, insurance and estate planning, and land development. Prior to that, Chris was a founder of Wireless Matrix Corporation (WRX:TSX) in 1993, a publicly traded wireless communications service provider, serving at various times through 2002 as President, Chief Financial Officer, Treasurer, Executive Vice President, and a director. Chris has a post-graduate degree in finance (MBA) from University of British Columbia (1990), and a Bachelor of Business Administration with a Minor in Economics from Wilfrid Laurier University (1989).

Barry Tissenbaum, Director
Barry Tissenbaum, CA is an independent consultant providing advisory services to numerous companies. Barry is an accomplished advisor to senior management who has earned a reputation for taking an entrepreneurial approach to business. He is recognized for his keen grasp of business issues – both short and long-term – and has a track record of providing innovative, practical, and hands on implementation.
Barry is a former senior partner with Ernst & Young LLP in Toronto where he headed their Retail & Consumer Products division as well as working many years in the Entrepreneurial Services Group and served as the Toronto Mid-Town Managing Partner. Barry's experience as an accountant and business advisor has seen him provide consulting services to senior management in the areas of strategy, profitability, finance, management, taxation, mergers, acquisitions and divestitures. He has facilitated and participated in numerous strategy focused sessions and served as strategic advisor to many entrepreneurial clients.
In addition to his exceptionally strong technical skills Barry is known as a team player and leader, capable of putting the right team together to get the job done. He is an experienced agent of change, dedicated to profitability, and known as a professional with passion and commitment.
Barry is recognized as a leader in the business community and serves on the boards of directors for Universal Energy Group and Northstar Healthcare Incorporated, both TSX listed companies.
